How To Read NFL Odds
Here are the most common types of NFL odds and bets:
What’s the Spread in NFL Betting?
How many points will a team win or lose by?
For example, if Ja’Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals are favored by 2.5 points against George Pickens and the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bengals must win by at least three points to cover the spread and cash a Bengals’ spread bet. The Steelers must win the game or lose by two or fewer points to cash a Steelers’ spread bet.
What’s an NFL Moneyline?
Which team will win the game?
If the Seattle Seahawks are -125 moneyline favorites against the Los Angeles Rams, a Seahawks’ moneyline bet will cash if the Seahawks win.
If you bet $10 on the Seahawks at -125, the payout would be $18, including the stake.
How Do NFL Over/Under Totals Work?
How many total points will be scored in the game?
If a game’s over/under total is 48.5, the two teams must combine for at least 49 points for Over bets to cash. Or they must combine for 48 or fewer points for Under bets to cash.
What’s an NFL Prop Bet?
How many passing yards will Brock Purdy have? How many total touchdowns will Travis Kelce score?
There are dozens of prop bets available for each game. From player props like over/under rushing yards or longest touchdown to team props like points scored or turnovers, you can focus on any area of the game.

NFL Parlays
A special way to use your football and betting knowledge for more excitement and bigger potential payouts, parlays allow fans to make high-reward bets across one or multiple games.
How Do NFL Parlays Work?
When you combine multiple bets into one wager, it’s called a parlay.
Here’s a parlay example:
- Las Vegas Raiders moneyline: -140
- Cleveland Browns spread (-2.5): -110
- Tua Tagovailoa passing touchdowns (over 2.5): -120
How Do NFL Parlay Payouts Work?
If all three legs hit, the potential payout is $125 on a $25 bet (including stake).
From two-leg moneyline parlays or three-leg spread parlays to Same Game Parlays or parlay promos, you can increase your potential payout while adding more thrill to each play.
